Background

I’m not a politician, and I’ve never run for public office. At this point in history, I think it’s time for every person with integrity and skill to get off the sidelines and get involved. That’s why I’m running for County Treasurer.

I am daughter of a sheet metal worker. I married my childhood sweetheart and was the first in my family to go to law school. I’ve lived in Grand Rapids since 2002 and I love calling West Michigan home. My experience includes 15 years at the City of Grand Rapids, serving multiple administrations as an Assistant City Attorney (6 years), Deputy City Attorney (9 years), and Interim City Attorney, appointed by the City Commission in 2016. I have a strong background in public finance, and served as counsel to the City Assessor on property tax matters. I served as Corporation Counsel in Kalamazoo County where I blew the whistle on what I believe were improper expenditures, and I would do it again.

If Elected

I will lead with these priorities:

  1. Invest locally and keep our money in Kent County instead of Wall Street;
  2. Help people avoid foreclosure and prevent blight;
  3. End the gerrymandering of County Commission districts; and
  4. Improve customer service by putting more services online.
